Phew, I am so never doing that again. Awww, who am I kidding? I probably will XD I'm a crazy kid. I sketched Jinx a few days ago to an awesome song (Kryptonite- 3 Doors Down) and I came across it this morning. I cleaned it up, then lined it, which took about an hour and a half. I then got rid of the sketch, half an hour. I then partly forgot about it, then coloured the main colours, aqua and crimson, and the eyes <3 which took about another hour.
I did the other colours which took me 10 minutes, then I started to shade, which took me 2 hours and a half. I edited somethings, then started to make the background, about 10 minutes, then I added her in. This will so be a part of my novel- An epic part. Sooo, here is a passage I shall probably use for it.
Jinx could feel her paws and talons trembling as she ascended up the steep valley of mist and fog. She just had to find Sami. Not just to save her friend, but for her clan. Sami was depended on. She was their future.
Jinx winced as she remembered flying with Sami into forbidden territory. And when Sami was captured... Jinx couldn't move, to save Sami or herself. It was Sami's sudden physic burst that got her free. Jinx felt washed over with guilt that she ran away. Her fur ruffled against the cold temperatures, and she chattered. Closing her eyes, she remembered how her father told her to never go anywhere you didn't know.
Finally, Jinx reached the summit of grey despair. She shut her eyes as the winds cloaked her in fear. Shaking her head, she leaped to a small plateau. She suddenly sensed those Vagrictons, and tensed. There he was; Rantyre. His shadowy form seemed to cover the whole floating island. Jinx gulped in fear; how could she defeat this thing if Sami couldn't?
"Ready to join your friend? You'd make a tasty desert." His rumbling chuckle filled the air, and it seemed little hissing joined in. All of his minions. But Jinx couldn't back down. She was paralyzed with a foreboding fear. She angrily kept her head down, and struggled to compose herself.
"Sami... if you can hear me," She whispered, as Rantyre advanced towards her, smog billowing, " I'm doing this for you." She snarled, and her hunches raised, wings stretching open to invite the challenge. Her tail lashed at the clouds trying to grasp her paws, her jewels shined. The scythe of her tail opened up, and her tail jewel was now on a star. Her turquoise eyes flashed; there was no retreating this time.

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactFirst critique, please bear with me!
I'll start by saying, I like this character. I actually like the markings in the design. Especially the diamond on the forehead- it's a nice touch. (:
Though, I am not very fond of the colors. The bright blue and reddish color seem to clash. May I suggest lowering the saturation, and/or perhaps making the blue darker; the red lighter? Or vice-versa.
I noticed you stated this was done in MS Paint. This is a good drawing for being done in MS Paint. I like how the lines aren't totally jagged. Though I see some lines that seem to overlap each other? Try tapering the ends of the lines for a smoother appearance. That makes a large difference!
I also like the story behind this. You captured the emotion quite well. I love her fierce expression and pose. It does look like she is showing courage.
Though I think she looks a bit unbalanced, like if she is going to fall forward. To improve that, I'd change the position of her limbs. (maybe put her right arm or leg more forward) But I really do love the way you draw paws/claws. They're rather difficult to achieve but you did them quite well!
And one last thing I'll point out: her wings look too stiff. Perhaps if you bend them a little, place them a bit higher (toward her shoulders), and maybe a bit farther apart, they will appear more natural! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt="
